It seems like Gen Z is the topic of conversation nowadays. We want to know how to reach them, talk to them, sell to them, and recruit them… but who are they really?
Gen Z, a post-millennial generation, is loosely defined as anyone born after 1995 (other sources may slightly differ). They are digital “natives”, heavily shaped by social media and technology, and are the first truly global generation. There are 2 billion of them around the world and they’re in constant communication, regardless of geographical location and cultural differences.
All generations have access to the digital world, but Gen Z is the first one to be born into the thick of it. Millennials pioneered things like social media and search engines, but they grew up with these things as a given, not something new to discover.
Gen Z is the most connected generation to exist. They have access to the world’s information in their pocket and are continuously trying out (and creating) new apps and devices to stay connected to each other and make our interactions more real.
Technology and social media have grown and evolved with us. AI, Siri, Alexa, BeReal., Snapchat, Twitch, and Discord are just a few platforms and technologies we engage with every day. These advancements and innovations have not only changed the way we consume media and communicate, but they also change the way we work, process information, and even how we shop.

Gen Z in Germany has more in common with Gen Z in India than they do with people their grandparents’ age, but that doesn’t mean all is lost. It might take a bit more effort, but we can learn from each other and grow together! Ultimately, Gen Z desires to leave their mark and have a positive impact on this world and I think those are things we can all agree on.
