This growth has resulted in a diversification of the global missions movement, as missionaries from non-Western countries play an increasingly significant role.

Unreached People Groups: Challenges and Opportunities

Christian missions focuses on reaching unreached people groups, communities with limited or no access to the Gospel. While progress has been made, challenges persist. Globally, there are over 17,000 distinct people groups, with approximately 7,000 categorized as unreached, with less than 2% of their population identifying as Christian.² Regions such as the Middle East, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia are particularly concentrated with unreached groups. But hey, every challenge is just an opportunity in disguise! As technology advances with improved communication methods, doors open for connections with remote locations and foster collaborations between organizations, churches, and communities worldwide.

Missionaries today engage in many diverse ministries beyond traditional evangelism.
