Prayer Walking 101: Praying On Site With Insight
Prayer walking is a fantastic way to get to know a place and fall in love with its people. As Great Commission workers we are called to go and...
Praying is powerful, but intercession takes it up a notch. It's like being a voice for others when you talk to God.
When we pray, it's often about what we need or want. Intercession, on the other hand, is a specific form of prayer where we stand before God on behalf of someone else. It's about being a spiritual advocate for others, and when we intercede for a nation, we are becoming advocates for that country and its people.
Intercession opens the doors for transformation, and not just for individuals but entire nations and lands.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
- 2 Chronicles 7:14
Intercession can also be a form of spiritual warfare against darkness to bring light and hope to a nation.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
- Ephesians 6:12
Intercession can bring about a healing process for nations plagued by conflict, suffering, or injustice. Through our prayers, we invite God's healing touch.
He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave."
- Psalm 107:20
Get to Know the Place and People: Before you start interceding for a nation, take some time to understand it better. Research facts, read articles, talk to people from that country, or visit if possible. I often find that when I know the place or the people – when I can picture their faces – I can more easily pray for them.
Begin with Praise and Gratitude: Start your prayer by thanking God for who He is, His greatness, His love, and His power. Express your gratitude for what He's already done and what He can do for the nation you're praying for. What a privilege it is to partner with God in prayer! 🤝
Seek the Holy Spirit's Guidance: Pray for the Holy Spirit's direction on how to pray for that nation. Ask for wisdom and insight into the specific needs and issues the nation is facing.
Pray for the Nation and Its People: Lift the nation before God, pray prayers of gratitude, of hope, and blessings. Tell God what burdens your heart about this nation and ask Him to move in this area. 🙌
Keep It Simple: Your prayers don't need to be long or complex - God knows what you mean. And don’t worry about filling the time. Prayer isn’t a business proposal or monologue, it’s a conversation. Don’t forget to listen to God too.
Our prayer habits can vary, but consistency is key. Try starting with just a couple of minutes and build from there. Prayer is simple, but building a habit of prayer takes commitment. And it’s so worth it - remember, prayer moves God's heart ❤️🔥
At YWAM Nuremberg, we believe in the power of intercession to transform nations. Together, let's be the advocates that bring gospel change to the world.

Before we can understand the urgency of going we have to know the actual reason why we are going.
There are many ways to reach out to people with the love of God and share the Good News about Jesus. Treasure Hunts are one tool, one way to do this.
